Pirate! Music Promotion and Management website
2007, Design Language
A website for the music promotion company, Pirate!, that George Kokkinidis and I designed the layout for, then handed it over to the third member of the Design Language team, Joel Caruso to program.
Knowing my love of getting hands-on with my design, George asked if I wanted to built the website letters out of wood. Which I of course said yes... forgetting how we didn’t have any air conditioning in the studio, and it was the middle of August... But it came out great in the end..! The wood came from a reclaimed building material warehouse, as square tiles that were comprised of six of one slat. I took those pieces, seperated them, and cut them with a handsaw to make them look like letters. We re-used some peices, but only enough that it saved time, and not so anyone would notice easily.
Then each letter was photographed, edited, and balanced to look like a set.
