“The Red Rocket” - No More Heroes 2
2009, Competition, WINNER!
The makers of the Nintendo Wii game held a competition to have your design used for a t-shirt worn by the main character, Travis Touchdown in the upcoming game No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle.
I had played and enjoyed the first game, and really wanted my chance at the competition. Knowing the kind of stuff Suda 51, the creator of the series enjoys, I attempted to play somewhat to his tastes, while still doing something I liked... I was having trouble coming up with something, then I decided to take the pixel art route, as that was something employed in the first game... And I thought up a concept that was subtly dirty – as was often the game’s humor – without opening myself up for disqualification... And came up with this..! It’s silly, but fun...
01.2010 UPDATE
So it’s in the game! Having not heard word from Ubisoft, I had no idea if my design had been selected or not even once the game came out. Luckily, my brother was playing through and after getting to a certain point in the game, unlocked it in the clothing store! Hooray! Soon I unlocked it too, and got some decent pictures of it. Pick the game up and wear my shirt with pride!
